Papaya is basically a tropical

Intercropping for papaya
To
keep
the
plot
free
of
weeds
during
the
pre-bearing
age
of
first to six
months
after
planting,
short
duration
vegetable
crops
can
be
grown
as
inter-crops.
Once
papaya
starts
bearing
it
is
difficult
to
grow
inter-crops
because
of
the
shade.
Papaya
can
be
grown
as
an
inter-crop
in
fruit
plantations
of
mango,
litchi,
sapota
etc.
It
can
be
also
grown
as
an
inter
crop
in
coconut
and
arecanut
plantations,
where
there
is
no
shade
in
the
inter-spaces.
