Packages for road
transportation of papaya:
Corrugated Fibre
Board boxes of size 450×300×150mm, 5ply rate thickness, 20 BF
bursting strength with styro foam cushioning designed and
developed by ICAR-IIHR was found suitable package for road
transportation of papaya. The papaya fruits after road
transportation was stored at ambient (26-29°C, RH 45%) as well
as low temperature (18°C, RH 80%) storage. The PLW of papaya was
less (3.43%) at low temperature storage compared to PLW (5.16%)
at ambient storage. Papaya had storage life of 12 days in low
temperature storage as compared to 5 days at ambient temperature
after transportation
